From the Land Beyond, also known as Horror/SciFiCon, is a gathering of folks who share a love for horror and science fiction — from film and novels to magazines and comic books and more. This year, the event, which takes place in Sacramaneto, will be held on September 26 & 27.
The Movie Room will offer the following during the show:
Episode 18 from Star Trek: Season 1 ("The Arena")
Cannibal Flesh Riot - "It is a cinematic representation of rock and roll, EC horror comics, drunken philosophy and a barnyard hoe down. Taste the flavors of 50's B movies, German expressionism and stop motion effects. The directorial debut for author/illustrator Gris Grimly with music composed by former guitarist of the Nekromantix, Peter Sandorff."
Lovecraft: Fear of the Unknown - The documentary features interviews with John Carpenter, Guillermo Del Toro, Neil Gaiman, Stuart Gordon, Ramsey Campbell, S.T. Joshi, Caitlin R. Kiernan, Andrew Migliore, Robert M. Price, and Peter Straub. Chosen as 2008 Best Documentary Film at Comic-Con International.
Dexter (Season 2): Episode 5, The Dark Avenger
The Undertaker and His Pals - "One of the first splatter movies ever made (1966). The undertaker and his diner owning pals need to drum up business, so they start murdering people. Needless to say most everyone ends up on the menu."
The pilot episode of Firefly
Buffy the Vampire Slayer (Season 4: Episode 10) "HUSH"
Atomik Circus - French sci-fi horror comedy with over the top violence, ridiculous characters, inter-gallactic time traveling, tenticled flying aliens and tons of weird action for gore-sci-fi adventure fans!
Calamity of Snakes - One of the most insane from the "Nature Run Amuck" sub-genre of horror. As in many of the Asian horror films, the reptile action is out of control. Thousands of real snakes everywhere, slithering down hotel hallways and attacking everyone!
